OpenAI announces ChatGPT Plus, a $20/month pilot subscription plan
ChatGPT Plus is for those who want faster responses, even during peak hours, as well as priority access to new features and enhancements.
Last week, OpenAI announced ChatGPT Plus, a $20/month subscription that gives priority access to the AI chatbot, including during high-demand hours when users of the free version must wait.
In addition, OpenAI says on its blog that ChatGPT Plus users will be entitled to “faster response times,” as well as “priority access to new features and improvements.”

ChatGPT Plus: faster, unlimited access to OpenAI’s AI chatbot
For now, the ChatGPT Plus subscription plan is limited to the U.S., but OpenAI has set up a waiting list and says the service will expand to other countries and regions soon.
Recent rumors said that OpenAI was preparing to launch a paid version of its chatbot for $42/month (about €40). This twice the price would have been a bit hard to justify for those who use the service on a non-profit basis.
On the other hand, at $20/month (about €18.5), this Pro version of the AI tool remains accessible to a wider range of people, such as students or small businesses that need reliable access to the text generated by ChatGPT.
This relatively affordable subscription is also a good strategy on OpenAI’s part vis-à-vis future paying competitors. Because ChatGPT is considered a pioneer in its field, potential rivals with a more expensive offering will have to justify that their service is worth paying more than ChatGPT Plus.
If you use ChatGPT on an occasional basis, rest assured that OpenAI will continue to offer free access to its AI chatbot. This new ChatGPT Plus subscription plan “will help support the availability of free access to as many people as possible.”
The company also says it is considering other subscription plans such as a low-cost plan, an enterprise plan and data packs for greater availability.
